The Ballon d’Or website has published three separate articles naming Harry Kane, Lamine Yamal and Kylian Mbappe as the winner of the 2026 men’s award. Hours before the ceremony for the 70th edition of the individual accolade at Palladium Theatre in London, chaos descended when a link emerged announcing England captain Kane had received the honour.

“A record-breaking welter of league and cup goals in 2025/26 has propelled Harry Kane to Ballon d’Or success,” read the story on the official website of the prestigious France Football prize. However, further links were subsequently found to articles hailing Real Madrid forward Mbappe and Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal as victors. All three versions have now been taken down.

Press Association has approached Ballon d’Or organisers for comment on the apparent leaks, which could potentially have confirmed the top three for this year’s award.

Barcelona and Spain teenager Pau Cubarsi has been ranked 12th. Not a bad season for the 19-year-old, who was named the best young player at the World Cup. The centre-back played a crucial role for Spain en route to lifting the famous trophy.

PSG midfielder Vitinha has been ranked 14th while his club-mate Achraf Hakimi has come 13th.

Arsenal fans won't be happy about this...all three of their nominated players have finished outside the top 10. This has been confirmed with Declan Rice being ranked 15th.

Ferran Torres scored the goal that won Spain the World Cup in the final at MetLife Stadium. And he has been ranked 16th in the Ballon d'Or voting as a result - tough to see why else he would finish so high.The 26-year-old also won LaLiga with Barcelona before completing a transfer to PSG over the summer.

Real Madrid and Brazil star Vinicius Junior has come 17th in the rankings.It was only two years ago that he was just pipped for the prize by Rodri, prompting Real Madrid to boycott the awards.Since then he has come 16th and now 17th.
