We will let Wayne Mardle have the final say:"I may be wrong but, a few years ago, I don't think Luke would have hung in a game like that to win it."That was sheer belief: guts and determination knowing that you can do it - and he can do it against anyone from any position."
That just about wraps things up from Leicester but we will be back in the Midlands from November 14 for the Grand Slam of Darts where Luke Littler will be looking to defend his title. See you then, folks! Goodnight.
Tonight's winner Luke Humphries joins Phil Taylor - who secured a quite frankly ludicrous 11 titles - Michael van Gerwen, and James Wade in winning this cracking double-in, double-out event on more than one occasion.
Sky Sports Darts' Wayne Mardle:"Gezzy tightened up after a great start." He says things in the spur of the moment but the way he competes, he wants it. You can't care like he did this evening if you don't care." It is disheartening and disappointing when you are 3-0 up and don't win but he has lost enough finals to know nothing is a given." He is still a young man and will get many more opportunities.
Sky Sports Darts' Wayne Mardle:"When you have won before, and Luke has done many times and in many, many ways , there is that belief of, 'I'm under pressure but let's just see as I know my game can win', rather than 'oh no, I am going to get beat'." He played his game and he won. I am not saying it's that simple but sometimes you have to simplify it."
Sky Sports Darts' Wayne Mardle:"Humphries was in trouble, then a bit more and then a bit more -so to get out of it was an incredible effort. The last two sets were his best."He was under the cosh for more than an hour but didn't succumb. He stood up to everything Gezzy threw at him, which was a lot."
Luke Humphries sensationally broke Gerwyn Price in 10 darts to win the ninth set, with a 180 helping him on his way before he pinned D16.
Luke Humphries adds to Sky Sports:"A win like that is sweeter than when you win with ease."I am looking forward to taking the trophy home to my son so he can see his dad not have a runners-up one!"
More from World Grand Prix champion Luke Humphries, speaking to Sky Sports:"The sport is in such a special place that when you pick these trophies up they mean more than anything I have ever experienced." When I was winning before I don't think there were so many great players around, just a couple of good ones. Now there are great players." These trophies are few and far between. I am happy to win a couple a year.
One a year is great. I don't think I can't do it but it will be tough." I feel I deserved a major. Maybe I didn't tonight as Gezzy was maybe the better player but I worked hard and showed grit and determination."
